Fandom is a term used to refer to a community composed of people who share a common interest that surrounds a tv show/movie/book etc. A fandom can grow around any area of human interest or activity. The term has its roots in those with
an enthusiastic appreciation for sports and it is traced back as far as 1903. It is formed of the word fan plus the suffix -dom (as in kingdom).
